A few days ago, while reading the news, a piece of news caught my attention. The article was about a nun who had been sent by her Order to serve as a carer/nurse for an elderly gentleman who, despite his age, still had a lot of energy and desires. He, not at all intimidated by the habit, began to harass the nun who, after having tried in vain for a few days to contain his sexual desires, informed her Order that she would no longer go to assist him. In response, her superiors ordered her to return immediately to her service and the young nun obeyed. But when she found herself in the position of deciding whether to let that man possess her or run away, she decided to leave and report her Order. Reading this news, I thought back to Elisabetta's stories and those nuns who told her that when one of the paying patients stretched out his hands, she should not react but pray because in that way there would be no sin....... I understood that perhaps in forty years things have not changed much.
